About Maverick Design Studio

Maverick Designs is a strategic Design, Marketing and Advertising studio established in 1999 in Nevada County, California. "Believe and Create" is our motto, and the staff at Maverick believes what they say. Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire; you will what you imagine; and at last you create what you will.

Maverick Designs was started in a 200 square-foot facility in Nevada City by Charlie Abernathybettis, who came to Grass Valley / Nevada City after leaving the Los Angeles Times, where he had been director of production services. In a few short years, the design studio has expanded to a 1700 square-foot, full-service advertising firm, offering wide-format printing and web design in addition to all the traditional design and production capabilities you would expect in a versatile graphic design firm.

Integrated into the organization are works printed on an Epson 9500 wide-format printer in permanent, pigmented inks on canvas or art papers in any size up to 42 inches wide by virtually any length. Vinyl banners, wall menus, billboards and posters are also printed in-house for both Sierra Fine Arts and Maverick Designs clients.

Charlie Abernathybettis, owner of the company.
Charlie has been a professional graphic artist/designer, media director and ad designer for a decade. For the past ten years, he’s the founder, owner, manager, and chief graphic designer of Maverick Designs. He has produced graphics for US Food Services, American Isuzu Motors Inc., GUESS Clothes, Albertson's and the Los Angeles Times. Prior to his career in graphics design, Charles was the Human Resource Director for Infotec Development, Inc., an Aerospace company based in Santa Ana, California. He held that position for 11 years. It was there, Charlie claims, that he learned the importance of creating a superior staff. And he’s proud of this success at Maverick.
